Description
Norway spruce is a stately, medium-sized conifer that grows 40-60′ high with a strong straight trunk and 20-30′ spread. Norway spruce can be grown in yards or parks in urban areas but also works well as a windbreak buffer, screen, or hedge in more expansive areas. It is a good wildlife tree for small mammals, moths, and birds. Cylindrical, showy cones are some of the longest spruce cones at 4-7″ and persist on the tree. Heavy, square needles create graceful, drooping branches as they age. It has a classic pyramidal shape and dark silhouette in the winter landscape.
