Description
A native bunching 12-24” tall rhizomatous perennial with deep violet blue flowers and sword-like mid-green leaves. Though traditionally found in moist habitats, iris does well in the field but also in more managed situations like perennial borders. It can even be planted densely to form a lush ground cover. Interesting dried seed pods add fall interest to the border. Iris are beloved by bumblebees and other pollinators. Grown locally at North Country Farm on Eielson Farm Road.
Landscaping: Plant in full sun to partial shade and moist soil.
